Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) forecasted heavy rain fall for the next four days with some areas of the country expected to experience some level of flooding.
Speaking to local media Mihaaru, Assistant Meteorologist Hussain Waheed said that the shift in the weather is part of the torrential monsoon rain that falls during the southwest monsoon.
Winds surge at 5 to 15 mph with thunderstorms expected for much of the country for the next 24 hours. Seas are expected to be relatively calm.
He further mentioned that some parts of the country may experience relatively heavier rainfall and subsequent flooding in the coming four days. He advised precautionary measures to be in place during these storms.
Rainfall was persistent in the capital city Male' for the past week as MNDF Fire and Rescue Services deployed personnel to pump out the flooded water from some areas.
