Haa Alifu atoll Dhidhoo won 4-2 over Fares-Maathodhaa in the final match of the first round, securing second place in Group A of the Gold Cup.
Dhidhoo had already secured a spot in the second round before the match, and with the win, they tied with Dhaalu atoll Meedhoo on points, both teams now having seven points.
Fares-Maathodhaa, who finished the tournament without any points, had taken a 2-0 lead in the first half. Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Abdel-Aati Mohamed and Shaifulla Ashraf scored the first two goals for Fares-Maathodhaa, with Abdel-Aati converting a penalty.
Haisham Rasheed of Dhidhoo scored a hat-trick in the final 10 minutes of the match. He netted two goals in the 83rd and 88th minutes, followed by Adam Naseem, who scored to give Dhidhoo the lead. Haisham completed his hat-trick in extra time, sealing the victory.
Dhidhoo won all four of their group matches, topping the group with 12 points.
