Three individuals were arrested in Fuvahmulah on Tuesday under accusations of issuing death threats against a police officer.
Maldives Police Service revealed that three men aged 19, 25 and 31 were apprehended under a court order.
No further details concerning the circumstances surrounding the case were disclosed.
The police recently arrested certain individuals for issuing death threats via social media and other methods. Several of these arrests involved people who issued threats against the founder of Maldivian Democratic Network (MDN), Shahidha Ismail, over the controversial report published by the NGO in 2015.
