After the Chief Judge of Maldives High Court, Haathif Hilmy retired from his position, the upper-court is now seeking for a new judge.
High Court has already announced seeking for potentials.
Hilmy, who was promoted to the Chief Judge of High Court on November 2020 took voluntary retirement, effective from November 17, 2022 onward.
Following the vacuum created in the judge's bench of the court, Judicial Service Commission (JSC) made formal announcement seeking for a new judge on Sunday, November 20.
JSC confirms High Court judges received a total remuneration package of MVR 54,300, which include;
- Basic Salary (monthly): MVR 36,000
- Living Allowance (monthly): MVR 15,000
- Risk Allowance (monthly): MVR 3,300
- Medical Allowance
- Phone Allowance
The job announcement from JSC further confirms deadline for application is until November 30, 2022. Interested applicants must apply for the position through JSC's "Fahires" online portal.
The outgoing Chief Judge Hilmy served as a judge at the Civil Court from 2009 until 2019, while he was appointed to Higher Court in 2019.
Meanwhile, following Hilmy's voluntary retirement, Justice Hussain Shaheed has replaced him as the Chief Judge of High Court. Shaheed had been a Criminal Court judge until he was appointed to High Court in 2018.
