A budget of MVR 11 million has been allocated for this year's Bodybuilding World Championships to be held in the Maldives.

This will be the first time the country hosts the World Championships. Previously, the country has hosted the Asian Championships and the South Asian Championships twice.

Bodybuilding Association (BBAM) Vice-President Aiman stated that the association's entire focus is on improving the arrangement of the tournament in the country and ensuring that the country's athletes win the event.

The BBAM has allocated a budget of around MVR 21 million for the current fiscal year.

"We've allocated the bulk of our forecasted budget to the World Championships. This marks the Maldives' debut as host for such a prestigious global event, making it exceptionally meaningful for us," Aiman expressed.

This year's South Asian Championships have also secured an opportunity to be held in the country.

In July 2022, the Bodybuilding Asian Championship was lauded by the World Federation and Asian federations Datuk Paul Chua who is also the President of the two federations.

The athletes who competed in the tournament also praised the arrangements for the events at Maafushi and Cross Roads.
