Citizens are preparing for a nationwide show of solidarity with Palestine on Friday afternoon, October 13.
The nationwide rally is expected to kick off on Friday afternoon in Greater Malé region and the atolls to show support to the people of Palestine.
The rally follows Israel's declaration of war on Palestine following Hamas' surprise attack.
Hamas launched multiple attacks on Israel on Saturday, October 7. Shortly after the attacks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared war on Palestine with tensions escalating quickly.
Israel mounted heavy shelling on Gaza following Hamas' attacks, which has claimed the lives of thousands of Palestinians already.
According to the organizer of the rally, a bike ride is scheduled in Malé City on Friday evening at 4:00 p.m.
A walk of solidarity is scheduled at the same time across the rest of the atolls.
In addition to the rally, the organizers have already opened funds to make donations to Palestine.
Maldivian held a similar rally in 2021 to express their support for the Palestinian people after multiple attacks by the Israeli government.
