President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that only the power of the people will prevail his own when he takes office next month.
Speaking at a meeting held to celebrate his victory after being elected as president in Saturday's presidential election, Dr. Muizzu said that he was chosen by the people, emphasizing "I am here to serve the people."
"That's why the people hold the power. Besides Allah, there was a trust that the people placed in me through their votes. Therefore, the people have the authority to make decisions regarding me," said Dr. Muizzu during a meeting with hundreds of attendees at the Social Centre last night.
He said that there are individuals with both experience and capacity to accomplish tasks. He reiterated his campaign statement, and assured that such capable individuals would also be appointed to the Cabinet.
"They work day and night. If I call them every hour to check on the progress, they will definitely answer the phone. There are a lot of dedicated individuals. Such diligent people will be the ones managing companies," he said.
Dr. Muizzu reassured that he would appoint individuals in whom he has complete confidence to the cabinet, various government positions, and companies. He said that these appointees would diligently execute his directives.
"I will have the final say on each of them. I will appoint individuals of this caliber to every position," he said.
Dr. Muizzu stated that he would establish a government that would not be influenced by any third party, unlike the current administration.
