The world's biggest diving world record has been set in the Maldives.

More than 400 people participated in the world record attempt for the most people performing static apnea simultaneously. Static apnea is a freediving discipline in which a person holds their breath underwater for as long as possible while floating on the surface.

More than 140 people attended the record's grand event held at Crossroads. The event was attended by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed.

Many of the participants in the event, called "Neyvaa 2", held their breath simultaneously underwater for two minutes. This is the first time this record has been set in the world.

Prior to the official event, four warm up sessions with the first two rounds conducted for 30 seconds each and the last two rounds of one minute each. Two minutes of rest time was given between each round.

The event, organized by Dive Maldives to mark the 50th anniversary of Maldives tourism, is the second diving world record set in the Maldives.
