Bank of Maldives (BML)'s 'Aharenge Bank' Community Fund provided financial assistance for the community park developed in Shaviyani Atoll's Kanditheemu on Friday.

The project, pitched to BML by Jinan Mohamed, aimed to create a space for the connection and entertainment of everyone living on the island.

In addition to featuring a fish gutting and barbecue areas, the park also contains a children's park and an outdoor gym for people of all ages.

The park is complete with tables and chairs, beach huts, sun beds, outdoor showers, swings and sets of traditional reclining chairs.

Commenting on the project, Jinan stated that BML's assistance enabled them to open the park which was a dream project for this island.

"This idea of the project stemmed from wanting to create a project that would benefit all members of the community. My sincere gratitude goes to Mohamed Shifan and Reunion Club for their tremendous support during the project", he said.

Community Fund is a program to empower individuals and NGOs to contribute to their communities through sustainable projects. The bank has provided funding for projects in 30 islands across the country under this fund over the last year.
