Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded the contract to construct a swimming area in Shaviyani atolls Foakaidhoo, Feevah, and Feydhoo.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure yesterday.
Director General of Infrastructure Department Fathimath Shaana Farooq signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry. MTCC Chief Operating Officer Shahid Hussain Moosa signed on behalf of the company.
MTCC has been tasked with completing the projects within a timeframe of seven months. The total cost of the projects is MVR 16.6 million, which will be funded from the state budget.
Under the project, MTCC has been assigned the following tasks:
● Feevah: Dredging of 3,575 cubic meters of the swimming area, and construction of a 50-meter groyne and a 97-meter breakwater.
● Feydhoo: Dredging of 2,730 cubic meters of the area, and construction of a 50-meter groyne and a 62-meter breakwater.
● Foakaidhoo: Dredging of 2,106 cubic meters of the area, and construction of a 40-meter groyne and a 101-meter breakwater.
