The recently relegated Grande Sports Club suffered a 5-1 defeat against Tent Sports Club in their opening match of the second division tournament this season.
Tent took an early lead with Ahmed Firash's goal in the 11th minute, securing a two-goal advantage by the 27th minute through Chalana Chameera.
Futsal star Hasan Nimal added two more goals for Tent in the second half, one goal in the 62nd minute and the second goal in the 70th minute.
Grande's Mushrif Moosa scored a consolation goal upon resumption. Tent secured their victory with a final goal in the 81st minute by Adam Azim.
Despite winning the second division title in previous seasons, Grande struggled in the Premier League, relying heavily on recruited players. However, in the last season, they fielded several players from K. Maafushi, a club affiliate. Currently competing in the second division, Grande's squad includes members from their previous Premier League team.
Tent Sports, placed in Group B, has won both their matches, defeating BG Sports Club in the first game.
Grande's scheduled match against New Radiant Sports Club was postponed due to bad weather and is rescheduled for January 19.
In Group B, second division runners-up Club Teenage suffered a loss to BG in their opening match.
Today's tournament match features Victory against Lorenzo Sports Club.
