The government of Maldives has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Turkish government to further develop the water and sewerage system of Maldives.

The Ministry of Environment said that the agreement aims to exchange technical experience between the two countries in developing the water and sanitation area.

The MoU will include training of personnel working in the field and joint participation by both countries in international conferences in the field, as well as putting in necessary effort to make advances in the field, said Environment Ministry.

In the online signing ceremony held today, the MoU was signed by Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim on behalf of the Maldives. Türkiye was represented by the Deputy Director General of Istanbul's Water and Sewerage Administration.

The Environment Ministry said that they hope this MoU would enable the two countries to work together to develop the water and sewerage sectors.
