Defence Minister visits Addu following floods

Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi visited Addu City and toured the homes which were damaged in the recent floods.

In addition to touring the affected homes, Minister Mariya also spoke with Addu City's Mayor Abdulla Sodiq regarding the relief efforts.

The minister was accompanied by Chief of Defence Force Major-General Abdulla Shamal and other senior officials from Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

The mayor stated that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), MNDF, Police, private companies and several civilians were participating in relief efforts.

According to the police, assistance was provided to 140 residences in Addu. The figure includes 44 houses in Hithadhoo, 12 houses in Maradhoo-Feydhoo, 43 houses in Feydhoo, 10 houses in Hulhudhoo, 27 houses in Meedhoo and four houses in Maradhoo.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih also spoke to Mayor Sodiq and checked on the situation of Addu via a phone call.
