Maldives Police Service are seeking Interpol assistance to apprehend Ahmed Moosa Mohamed (Ammaty), the Managing Director of SeaLife Global, who is implicated in a major housing project scam in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale'.
In a tweet posted Thursday, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed revealed that the police have requested Interpol for a Red Notice on Ahmed Moosa Mohamed.

A joint venture between SeaLife Maldives and two Dubai firms, SeaLife Global was contracted by Housing Development Corporation (HDC) in 2014 to develop 3,000 housing units in the first phase of Hulhumale'. However, SeaLife Global did not commence the housing project despite taking down payments from several flat buyers. The company did not respond to complaints over the delay or to the buyers' demands for refunds.
Ahmed Moosa Mohamed left the country after Police commenced investigations into the issue. According to local media reports, he is currently residing in Sri Lanka, a member state of Interpol.
Over 200 individuals who paid for the flats have filed lawsuits against the company. The Criminal Court has issued an order to arrest Mohamed.
The case is also under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
