He noted that the country's economy is also improving. In this trend, the estimated progress within the year in the development of the new terminal at Velana International Airport is on schedule, and headway is being made in housing programs with various options from China and India, he said.

One other project he highlighted is the development of roads in capital Male' city through Chinese grants.

"In the initial stage of these... anyone who has been in government, in running a government, will understand that the initial stages of such a project is a long process. Preliminary stage, followed by many other stages, then confirming financing, and so on... in this way, it takes about a year to commence large projects," the President explained.

The President revealed that many efforts are being undertaken behind the scenes as well, adding that this is the result of official visits he has made to various countries. He highlighted the successes of the trips to Turkey, India and China.

"So foreign relations are good. The economy is also being built on a good foundation," he asserted.
