Another case has been reported where a person was falsely promised allocation of a flat and cheated out of money.

In this case, the person was approached through a phone call and promised a flat. The scammers convinced the person to provide the One Time Password (OTP) for the bank transaction and proceeded to withdraw MVR 500,000.

Police have confirmed that they are investigating this case.

In relation to this case, police appealed to the public via a post on social media X to refrain from providing OTP to any other individual. They encouraged people to exercise caution in order to avoid becoming victim to such scammers.

Last Thursday, a woman from Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll became a victim of a similar scam, where she lost MVR 200,000 to false claims of having received a flat.

No arrests have been made in relation to the case yet.
