MP Jabir hands in his resignation

Kaashidhoo constituency Member of Parliament Abdulla Jabir has handed in his resignation.

Jabir's lawyer confirmed this fact to Mihaaru.

Majlis Secretariat, however, has not confirmed yet whether it has received this resignation.

Jabir contested in the recent parliamentary election as well in the same constituency. He faced defeat in the election, with People's National Congress (PNC) Candidate Munthazim Ibrahim winning the seat.

For the ongoing 19th People's Majlis, Jabir initially contested as an independent candidate. He remained as such until the Presidential Elections, close to which he signed up to Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

For the last parliamentary election, Jabir first contested in MDP's primaries. Despite winning the ticket, he was later dismissed citing disciplinary issues. He then contested as an independent candidate.
