Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced that capital Male's ring road, which connects to the landmark Sinamale Bridge, will be open for public use this Thursday.
The ministry had previously stated that the road will be open for use on Monday, but it was kept closed due to unfinished work.
According to the housing ministry, Male's ring road of Boduthakurufaanu Magu is to be expanded from its current two lanes to four lanes, on the capital's eastern coast up to Hulhumale ferry terminal, and on the southern coast up to the Industrial Village.
The expanded road would measure 12 metres in width and serve to minimize inbound and outbound traffic of the Sinamale Bridge, which links Male to airport island Hulhule.
Though the bridge was unveiled last Thursday, public access to the bridge is to commence this Friday.
