The President's Office has refuted claims circulating on social media that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and his family engaged in karaoke activities, and has set up an expensive system for the purposes at their official residence.

Responding to allegations made during a meeting of the newly-formed party by former President Abdullah Yameen, Communications Minister Ibrahim Khaleel stated that the accusations were baseless.

Minister Khaleel denied the assertion that an expensive karaoke system had been installed at the official residence of President Dr Muizzu.

He declared this information to be unequivocally false and emphasized that such misinformation was being propagated by individuals who had previously misappropriated state resources, aiming to deflect attention from their own past transgressions.

In a message shared with the media, Khaleel denounced the dissemination of false images and accusations against the president as a deliberate attempt to divert public attention from prior misconduct. He argued that the intent behind circulating deceptive information was to erase past wrongdoings from public memory.

Furthermore, there were posts circulating online linking President Muizzu's wife, First Lady Sajida Mohamed, suggesting that she had brought a karaoke system to Muliaage for personal use. However, these claims were not substantiated by the President's Office, which categorically dismissed them as false.
