Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure said that the asphalt laying of the remaining area of Boduthakurufaanu Magu will be completed by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

State Minister of Planning Ministry, Akram Kamaluddin had previously said that the road would be paved after the month of Ramadan, but no practical work has begun yet.

Akram said that MTCC will undertake paving the remaining area of Boduthakurufaanu Magu. However, the details of when the work will be handed over to them and when practical work will begin is yet to be determined.

Asphalt was laid on Boduthakurufaanu Magu from Hulhumalé Ferry Terminal up to the Malé Industrial Village during the administration of former president Abdulla Yameen. The road was developed to facilitate vehicular traffic to the Sinamalé bridge and avoid congestion.

Initially, the Road Development Corporation (RDC) was given the contract to pave Ameenee Magu, and eventually, the task was given to MTCC, as there was no space to keep RDC’s asphalt paver in the city, and considering that MTCC had already paved the road up to the STELCO building. However, the remaining portion of the work on Ameenee Magu work will be completed by RDC.

The decision was made in order to quickly resolve the issue of delayed asphalt laying and alleviate the growing difficulties faced by the public in using the road.
