Opposition coalition's presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) cautioned President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom 'not to mess with the people's votes' in the upcoming elections, as fair voting in a presidential election is every civilian's right.

While speaking in Meedhoo, Addu City, addressing a number of supporters of the opposition coalition, Ibu proclaimed the result of the elections as being very apparent, and that the whole nation wanted a change from President Yameen's regime.

"I want to say to the president, do not try to mess with the elections! Do not try to manipulate anything regarding the elections even with the abuse of power. The people of Maldives will not give you that chance!" said Ibu.

According to Ibu, the people have fought tooth and nail for this election. They have fought against every single obstacle the government threw their way.

"We have leapt across all the obstacles faced to reach this election. No matter how much manipulation or abuse of power by the current government, we have persevered!", said Ibu.

Furthermore, Ibu recognized the hard work of the people that has been put into this election as a testament to the people's need for a fair and just election in the Maldives. He declared that on September 23, the voters will go back to their homes with the election results they need.

"The people are impatient for a change of regime through a fair and just election! The change begins this Sunday!", said Ibu.

Ibu's message to President Yameen comes amidst a number of accusations towards the Elections Commission (EC) as being concordat with the ruling party.

However EC has refuted the allegations and repeatedly assured a fair and free election, which is slated for September 23.
