Maldives Police Service arrested a suspect late Monday, in connection with a violent altercation between two gangs in Hithadhoo, Addu Atoll earlier the same day.
Police revealed Tuesday that the suspect is a 25-year-old Maldivian male, but did not disclose further information.
Earlier, authorities stated that one individual sustained serious injuries during the fight and was hospitalised at Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH).
According to local media reports, the injured 22-year-old suffered wounds inflicted by a sharp object on his shoulders, back and hips, and had fingers on his left hand dismembered.
Per the reports, AEH confirmed that the individual's condition is now stable.
