Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid on Monday, departed from Bucharest after concluding a four-day official trip to Romania.
Consultations held during the visit focused on strengthening existing bilateral ties within the areas of trade, education, tourism, disaster risk management and security cooperation.
Minister Shahid and his Romanian counterpart Teodore Melescanu signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a mechanism for regular consultations on bilateral and regional issues.
Furthermore, Minister Shahid met with Deputy Prime Minister for Romania's Strategic Partnerships' Implementation, Ana Birchall.
The Maldivian delegation also held meetings with the Director General of the Romanian Diplomatic Institute, the Ministry of Interior Affairs and top officials of the Ministry for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship.
Minister Shahid was accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel and Assistant Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Fathimath Razana.
Romania and Maldives will celebrate 40 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations this November.
