Aasandha scheme's expenditure is at MVR 823 million in the second quarter of this year, marking an 11.5 percent increase from the MVR 738 million spent in the same duration last year.
The company stated that the number of people who received Aasandha services is also higher this year than it was in 2023.
In the second quarter of 2023, a total of 260,775 persons had used Aasandha services. This year's second quarter's numbers are at 265,059 persons.
The statistics further indicated that in this second quarter, 1,232 people had been transferred from one island to another for medical treatment under Aasandha coverage. In addition to this, the scheme also covered medical treatment for 2,807 persons abroad as well.
