Dhon Adhaaraadha Hin'gun, the lane next to Stelco, will be opened up for public use ahead of Ramadan.
Work on Dhon Adharaadha Hin'gun, the road next to Stelco, has neared completion, with the road expected to be opened up for public use ahead of Ramadan this year.
The road had been closed to public and taken for use as Stelco premises, placing power houses on the location, in 2010. At the time, four generators were placed there with the intention of increasing Male's electricity generation capacity.
Progress on revamping the road was shown to media on Monday. Flower pots blooming with bougainvillea plants were arranged in a row on one side of the street, along with aesthetically pleasing lamp posts.
Stelco assured that the road would be able to accommodate larger vehicles as well, especially emergency response vehicles like fire trucks.
