The Road Development Corporation (RDC) has been awarded an MVR 102 million road construction project in Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo.
The Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure signed the contract on Sunday afternoon. The ministry’s Secretary General Fathimath Shaana Farooq and RDC’s Chief Executive Officer Yaasir Hassan signed the agreement on behalf of their respective agencies.
Under the project, the government will spend a total of MVR 102,846,733.89 for the development of Ihavandhoo roads. RDC is required to complete the project in one and a half years.
- Laying asphalt on 6.9 kilometers of road
- Storm-water drainage system
- Installation of street lights
This marks the latest road development contract for RDC. Earlier in March, the corporation was awarded an MVR 75 million road development contract in Noonu atoll Manadhoo.
Besides taking on road development projects across the Maldives, RDC is also the primary contractor for the Ameenee Magu re-development project in the capital Malé.
Despite the fact that RDC has multiple ongoing road development projects on various islands, the corporation has fallen short of completing these projects on time.
