The youth who was injured in the accident that occurred in Hulhumale' in the early hours of Monday morning has died today.
Mohamed Layaan Shareef (Lullu), 19 years of age, from Kaafu atoll Huraa, succumbed to his injuries while he was receiving treatment at Treetop Hospital.
Police said at the time that in the early hours of the morning, the motorcycle had been travelling at a very fast speed from west to east on Gul-Alaamaa Hin'gun in Hulhumale' when it crashed into a parked van belonging to the immigration department.
Following the accident, Layaan was discovered lying injured on the ground around 02:30 hrs by police officers patrolling the area, and then transferred to Treetop Hospital for treatment.
Reports indicate that he was in critical condition following the accident, being placed on ventilator support and receiving treatment for several broken bones amongst other injuries.
