Maldives Police are currently investigating an alleged rape case that has been filed by a Chinese tourist who was staying at a resort in the Maldives.
The accusation was made by a 26 year old Chinese woman who had come to Maldives on June 6, according to her social media post.
She said that that before leaving, she extended her stay and spent time at the Ritz Carlton Maldives Fari Island, located in the Malé Atoll.
In a long post on a Chinese social media platform, she said she was raped by the butler assigned to her room. She further further said that she reported the incident to the Maldivian police and the Chinese Embassy.
The tourist shared some of the documents related to the case on social media, which included her registration of the case with the Kaafu Atoll Thulusdhoo Police Station on Sunday. On the same day, she underwent medical tests at the Kaafu Atoll Health Center.
Ritz Carlton stated that they would fully cooperate with the police investigation regarding the alleged incident. However, they did not disclose any information about the actions taken against the accused employee, as the investigation is still ongoing.
Police said they are proceeding with the investigation. As of now, no arrests have been made in relation to the incident.
