Visit Maldives launches joint marketing campaign with Thomas Cook India

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), on Wednesday, announced that Visit Maldives has commenced a joint marketing campaign with with one of India’s leading travel services company, Thomas Cook India.

According to the statement by MMPRC, the 3-month long campaign aims to increase travel demand from India to Maldives.

With highly focused marketing activities, the campaign will make use of Thomas Cook India’s digital channels to “create destination awareness and enhance visibility”.

Thoyyib Mohamed, the Managing Director of Visit Maldives, said, "We are definitely delighted to commence this collaboration and hope that our efforts in marketing Maldives will be successful”.

He noted that since India currently ranks second among the key arrival markets to Maldives, they expect the partnership to increase arrivals from a range of Indian traveler segments.

Thoyyib also spoke of Visit Maldives’ desire to attract a more diverse range of travelers to Maldives and to promote the country beyond just a "honeymoon destination".

Speaking about this joint marketing campaign, the President and Country Head-Holidays, MICE, Visa Rajeev Kale said, “We are delighted to partner with the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation to jointly promote Maldives as destination of choice for our range of Indian traveler segments - including millennials, young working professionals, ad-hoc groups of friends and families".

He went on to say that Maldives has been an aspiration destination for them.

“... our strategic intent will focus on highlighting the benefits/USPs of easy access and a free visa-on-arrival process, coupled with its eclectic vibe, stunning natural vistas and exclusive resorts to steer consideration towards Maldives and drive demand”.

Thomas Cook India provides a range of services including Foreign Exchange, Corporate Travel, MICE, Leisure Travel, Value Added Services, Visa and Passport services and E-Business. They won The Best Travel Agency – India at TTG Travel Awards 2019, and the Best Outbound Tour Operator at the Times Travel Awards in both 2018 as well as 2019.

Despite the global pandemic, Maldives managed to attract over 500,000 tourists in 2020, with India ranking number one in terms of tourist arrivals by end of the year.

Maldives reopened borders on July 15, 2020, after being closed for months in order to contain the spread of COVID-19.
