According to Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) the rate of inflation as measured by the annual percentage change in the national Consumer Price Index (CPI) edged up to 0.6 percent in February 2022.
The rate of inflation rose from 0.2 percent recorded by the end of January 2022.
The largest contributors tow the annual rate of inflation during February include Fish (0.2 percentage points), petrol for personal transport equipment (0.2 percentage points), medicines (0.2 percentage points), restaurants and cafes (0.2 percentage points), and narcotics (0.1 percentage points).
However, the monthly percentage change in the national CPI slightly dipped to 0.34 percent in the review month compared to 0.40 percent in January 2022.
