Maldives crowned best international island holiday destination

Maldives, on Tuesday, was conferred the “Best International Island Holiday Destination” award by International Travel Awards 2020.

Upon receiving this award, the Managing Director of Visit Maldives Thoyyib Mohamed, remarked “We are immensely grateful to the International Travel Awards for giving us this recognition.

“Our team and the entire tourism industry have been working towards making Maldives one of the safest and most preferred destinations to travel to this year, and these tributes are proof of our success.”

International Travel Awards, organized by KSA Tourism Marketing & PR Company, has over a decade of experience in promoting and branding over 5,000 global tourism brands around the world.

Award winners are selected with the vote of 100,000 international travelers and tourism industry professionals, for nominees reviewed by judges from various backgrounds.

Every winner of the International Travel Awards receives an ample of marketing and branding opportunities worldwide, as per Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

Despite the challenges faced during such a crucial time, Maldives has been gaining international recognition through a variety of awards and accolades due to the safety measures and precautions in place to curb the spread of COVID-19, MMPRC said.

Maldives recently won the World’s Leading Destination award by World Travel Awards 2020, alongside 4 awards in the Indian Ocean category. These categories are Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination 2020, Indian Ocean’s Leading Cruise Destination 2020, Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination 2020, and Indian Ocean’s Leading Dive Destination 2020.

The island nation also won the Indian Ocean’s Best Spa Destination award by World Spa Awards, amongst others.

MMPRC stated that receiving such awards is a testament to the love and confidence travelers from around the globe has towards Maldives.

Visit Maldives has been working to increase the destination presence and visibility among key markets. In this regard, several marketing activities and campaigns have been conducted, providing a platform for tourists from around the world to rediscover Maldives.
