Powerbank explodes, causing fire incident at Kudahuvadhoo

A powerbank exploded in a room in which a sixteen year old was studying today on the island of Dhaalu atoll Kudahuvadhoo, leading to a serious fire incident.

Dhaalu Atoll Council President Ahmed Shafiu told Mihaaru News that the powerbank exploded in his elder daughter's room.

The powerbank was not connected to anything at the time of explosion, and had been placed on the bed. The area where the house was located was also experiencing a power cut at the time.

The child was not injured in the incident.

However, photos show that the room, and its contents including furniture, sustained heavy damage. The child's school uniforms and books were also damaged beyond use.
