The second Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member state conference on Mediation has concluded in Istanbul, Turkey on November 29, 2018.

The conference was held in the context of the importance that Turkey attributes to strengthening key roles within regional organizations for the prevention and peaceful resolution of conflicts.

At the OIC conference of mediation, Turkey highlighted the mediation efforts in and beyond its region such as processes for a peaceful resolution in Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan.

The 2018 conference contributed to the future activities of the OIC Contact Group of Friends of Mediation, which Turkey has recently formed and is co-chairing along with similar groups in the UN and the OSCE.

First held in 2017, the OIC Member States Conference on Mediation contributed to the efforts of Turkey to raise awareness and build capacity for mediation within the OIC and among its member states.
