The Elections Commission (EC) has published the permanent list of eligible voters for the runoff polls, revealing additional 408 new voters.
The number of eligible voters for the first round of the presidential election was 282,395, which has now increased to 282,803 for the runoff polls scheduled for September 30.
EC also said that out of the total 50,047 re-registration applications for the runoff polls, 38,763 were approved, while 11,284 applications were rejected since their authenticity were not verified.
EC gave a 48-hour window for voters to submit complaints regarding re-registration. The agency reported receiving 361 complaints within the period.
The commission earlier announced the decision to install 12 additional ballot boxes for the runoff polls, bringing the ballot box total to 586.
EC decided to increase ballot boxes in light of the increased re-registrations for the second round.
The first round of the election concluded with the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People's National Congress (PNC) coalition candidate, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, leading with 101,635 votes, while the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate and incumbent president, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, secured second place with 86,161 votes.
The runoff polls will be held between the leading two candidates this Saturday.
