Body of murdered expat waiter repatriated back to Bangladesh

The body of the Bangladeshi waiter in Khanji Restaurant has been repatriated back to Bangladesh.

Twenty-nine year old MD Shahin died from stab wounds he received by the Pakistani chef Mohamed Abid, 26, on Saturday, April 16. He in now under police custody.

Police had confirmed to Mihaaru news that his body was repatriated back to Bangladesh on Thursday evening. Shahin was from a village called Champur near Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh.

A Bangladeshi national who had previously spoken to a Bangladeshi newspaper had said that Shahin was stabbed in the middle of a dispute over preparing food for iftar that evening.

Abid, accused of murder, had fled the scene after the attack and was brought under police custody later on the same evening. Criminal Court had ruled he is to be under police custody for 15 days.

Mihaaru news had reported that Abid had been described by people as a person with a temper and that he had gotten into arguments with other staff in that restaurant previously as well.

He had gotten into physical altercations with the restaurant staff on prior occasions when there were customers in the restaurant.
