In a recent council meeting, Malé Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced the introduction of a dedicated bus service for Malé City Council employees. The service aims to enhance transportation convenience for employees, particularly those commuting from Hulhumalé.
The bus service will operate on a daily schedule, providing round-the-clock availability. Off-schedule pickups can also be arranged upon request, ensuring 24/7 transportation convenience.
In an effort to facilitate transportation, the bus service provided by Malé City Council will now be extended to three schools under its jurisdiction, as well as private hire services. While Malé City Council staff members will be able to enjoy the service free of charge, each staff member will be issued a bus card for identification purposes.
The special bus service offered by Malé City Council provides complimentary access to individuals aged 65 years and above, Individuals with special needs registered at National Social Protection Agency (NSPA), and children under six years of age.
However, office hires and the general public will be subject to charges based on availability.
