Ooredoo Mas Race to kick off in Himmafushi today

This year's tournament will take place on three islands, with the next two races scheduled for Lhaviyani atoll Naifaru on August 16 and Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Thinadhoo on August 23. Winners will be selected from each location.

This year's Ooredoo Mas Race is set to kick off today at Kaafu atoll Himmafushi.

The fishing race, set to begin at 14:00, marks the first time the Ooredoo Mas Race is being held on an island outside the capital city, Malé. A total of 21 teams from Himmafushi will be participating in the event.

The first place winner will be awarded MVR 25,000, while the second and third place teams will receive MVR 10,000 and MVR 5,000, respectively.

Additionally, those accorded as "Best Fisherman" and "Best Fisherwoman" will each be given a prize of MVR 1,000, along with a Pio Ultimate Sea Spirit/Gangster (H/D) rod.

The Ooredoo Mas Race is an annual fishing competition held in celebration of Ooredoo's anniversary and remains a popular event organized by the company each year.
