President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will be attending the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assemby (UNGA), where he will be delivering remarks and joining a special open debate at the UN Security Council.
This marks the first time that a leader from the Maldives will be participating in a debate at the UN Security Council, the President's Office said.
President Muizzu will be travelling to New York this month to attend the UNGA session, although a date of travel has not been announced as of yet.
This is the President's first official trip to the UNGA after assuming office last November 17.
An open debate of the UNGA will be held on September 25, titled 'Leadership for Peace'.
During the trip, the President will also attend the Summit of the Future on the sidelines of UNGA 79 and deliver a speech to students at Princeton University.
