Volleyball Association (VAM) is ready to kickstart the women's division of the National Volleyball League today after a six-year hiatus.

With six teams participating, VAM has published the league schedule, which is set to take place at the Social Center's Indoor Hall from tomorrow until next Monday.

The women's division of the National League was last held in 2017. That year, the championship was won by Gnaviyani atoll Fuvahmulah Miskithumagu Enmenuge Gulhun.

The following year, both the women's and men's divisions of the Volleyball League were canceled due to time constraints at the Youth Center's indoor court allocated to VAM. However, the men's division has been held annually since 2019.

This year's league features Club WAMCO (the champions of the Association Cup that concluded in July), runners-up Police Club, third-place winners Volleyball Youth New Generation, as well as Himmafushi Victorious Sports Club, Asdhiga Sports Club, and Goodies Sports Club.

The top four teams in the league will qualify for the National Tournament, and these four teams will also secure spots in next year's Association Cup final round.

The league's first match is scheduled at 15:30 hrs this evening between Goodies and Asdhiga. At 17:00 hrs, Police will face Himmafushi Victorious, followed by a match between WAMCO and Volleyball Youth New Generation at 20:30 hrs.

Currently, WAMCO is the most successful club in Maldivian women's club volleyball. The team has defeated Police Club and won the Association Cup for the fourth consecutive time. Club WAMCO has also won the last two National Tournaments.
