A recent report by Bounce has published that hotels and guesthouses in the Malé area present the most substantial discounts during the off-season.

As per insights from the travel website Bounce, Maldivian hotels extend off-peak discounts of up to 85 percent to attract tourists. The study highlights that guests opting for accommodation in the Malé region experience a significant price difference, especially in August, where rates dip below the usual. However, come December and January, prices witness a substantial surge.

Maldives secures the top spot for offering the most considerable off-season discounts, surpassing Heraklion, Capital of Crete, in Greece, which claims the second position with hotels providing discounts of up to 78 percent in November. September marks the peak days in Crete, leading to a subsequent spike in prices by 78 percent.

The third-highest discount is found in Cairo, Egypt, where hotels extend discounts of up to 77 percent. Following closely are Chiang Mai in Thailand, Athens in Greece, and Florence in Italy, offering discounts of up to 70 percent during the off-season.

The study emphasizes that January emerges as the most economical time to travel globally, with hotel discounts reaching up to 50 percent in cities like London, Bali, and Amsterdam.

During the off-season, hotels and guesthouses provide the most substantial discounts, positioning the Maldives as one of the world's premier luxury tourism destinations. The country's peak season initiates in December, with an influx of tourists recorded from then until March, based on data from recent years.
