Shops can be kept open till 01:00 hrs and food outlets till 03:00 hrs during Ramadan, the government announced.
The government has announced on Tuesday the permitted hours of operation for food outlets and shops selling consumer goods.
Ministry of Economic Development and Trade announced that cafe's and restaurants can remain open every day from 17:30 hrs to 03:00 hrs during Ramadan, hence staying open during the evening hours and into the early hours of the morning.
Shops and places selling consumer goods are permitted to operate until 01:00 hrs at night. The earliest they are allowed to open is at 05:30 hrs in the morning.
Although the beginning of Ramadan is expected to fall on Monday as per the calendar, these operating hours will be in effect beginning from next Friday, as per the Ministry's announcement.
These hours will also apply for the first seven day of Shawwal, after the end of Ramadan.
