Ministry of Education has said today that school sessions will start between 08:30 hrs and 09:00 hrs in the morning during Ramadan.
A circular sent from the ministry to schools stated that schools that conduct lessons in one session must commence classes between 08:30 hrs and 09:00 hrs, concluding the days lessons by 15:00 hr.
Schools that conduct classes in two sessions will also commence morning sessions at 08:30 hrs. The sessions must be divided and times managed in a way that ensures schools are closed latest by 15:00 hrs, the circular directed schools.
- LKG and UKG: 1 hour 30 minutes
- Grades 1 to 6: 2 hours 30 minutes
- Grades 7 to 12: 3 hours
The circular stated that as the school hours are limited during Ramadan, each period should last between 30 to 45 minutes. It further instructed schools to ensure that timetables are drafted in a manner that ensures all subjects are covered in the two weeks school will be open during Ramadan.
- Teachers' work hours must not exceed a maximum of four hours per day
- Duties of administrative staff must be planned out in a manner to ensure uninterrupted administrative services while schools are in session
- When arranging timetables and sessions, prioritize allowing time for prompt prayers in the schedule.
- Students are also to be given religious information.
- Schools must also refrain from holding any school activities betwen 16:00 hrs and 21:00 hrs.
- Activities for secondary grade students to be planned to be held between 21:00 hrs and 22:30 hrs during Ramadan.
