The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has reopened the opportunity for low-income citizens to register for assistance.

The Ministry on Sunday, June 11, announced that individuals who wish to register in the low-income or poor category can apply for it from Sunday until June 22. Individuals who wish to register can submit the forms between 09:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on weekdays.

The Ministry has opened the opportunity only for the citizens residing in Malé City, Vilimalé, and Hulhumalé.

The Ministry said that individuals who have received Zakat in 2023 and have not experienced any changes in their income are not required to re-register and will remain listed in the low-income people's registry.

However, families that are already in the registry, with either a member turning 18 or 65 by June 22, should submit the form.

The last registration opportunity for the low-income people's registry was in December 2022, with a total of 9,041 individuals listed as low income citizens.
