Largest cargo vessel of Maldives berths in Male'

The second addition to the Maldivian cargo vessel fleet berthed at Maldives capital Male' City on Tuesday.

The "MSS Chrome" is the second acquisition of State Trading Organization's (STO) subsidiary company Maldives State Shipping (MSS).

According to the parent company, the MSS Chrome is a bulk-carrier type with a Length Overall (LOA) of 190 meters and a Length Between Perpendiculars (LBP) of 181 meters.

The median breath of the vessel is 30.5 meters and the median depth is 16.6 meters, while the draft (hull) measures 11.221 meters, with a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of 43,929.1 tons.

Furthermore, the gross tonnage of the vessel is reportedly 26,870 tones and the net tonnage is at 13,874 tons.

On its maiden voyage to the Maldives, the MSS Chrome carried 41,500 metric tons of aggregate and sand.

The MSS Chrome entered into the country's history for being the largest ever bulk-carrier type cargo vessel brought by a Maldivian shipping company till date.

MSS acquired the cargo vessel from Singapore's Cosco Shipping.

The arrival of the vessel was celebrated with a water salute near the commercial harbor of Male' City.
