President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday evening departed on an official visit to the State of Qatar and a state visit to the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
According to the President's Office, the main objective of the President's visit to Qatar was to further develop bilateral bonds. Diplomatic relations between Qatar and Maldives was recently re-established.
As the second half of this trip abroad, the President will visit Bangladesh on March 17.
President's Office revealed that he will attend the official ceremony of the 'Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman'.
Additionally, a one-on-one call with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh has been scheduled as well as meetings with other senior officials of the Bangladeshi government. This is to hold discussions on ways to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Moreover, as part of this state visit, President Solih will meet the Maldivian community residing in Bangladesh.
First Lady Fazna Ahmed and a high-level delegation of the Maldives’ government are accompanying the President on his visit to both countries.
President's Office also revealed that President, First Lady and delegation will return to Maldives on March 20, after concluding both the visits.
