Qatar Airways, on Monday, announced that 21,000 complimentary tickets would be offered to educators on the occasion of World Teacher’s Day, in acknowledgement of their crucial contribution to young people amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The giveaway opened at 0400 hrs on October 5 and is scheduled to close at 0359 hrs on 8 October on Doha time. Teachers from over 75 countries, in which Qatar Airways currently operates, are eligible for complimentary tickets.

To ensure a fair and transparent process, each country will receive a daily allocation, staggered over the three-day campaign period. The allocation will be released at 0400 hrs at Doha time during the campaign period.

Teaching professionals can submit a form at qatarairways.com/ThankYouTeachers and receive a unique promotion code, offered on a first come, first served basis.

They will also receive a 50 per cent voucher for one future return ticket that can be used by a family member or friend as well. Both complimentary tickets will remain valid up to September 30, 2021.

"We at Qatar Airways are incredibly grateful for the commitment and hard work of teaching professionals around the world who continue to educate our young people in these times of uncertainty. "As the largest airline flying consistently throughout the pandemic, we have also supported students in recent weeks by flying to wherever they need to be to start their studies on charter as well as scheduled flights. As an airline, we firmly believe in the importance of education and are committed to lending our support to educational causes."

Teachers that successfully register for the celebratory offer can also utilise Qatar Airways' flexible booking policies. In 2013, Qatar Airways endorsed Education Above All’s Educate A Child programme. Launched in 2012 by Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the programme aims to reduce the number of children denied an education worldwide. Passengers of Qatar Airways passengers are invited to donate to Educate A Child on board and at qatarairways.com through the online flight booking process. The airline also displays a commercial on the Educate A Child programme on its Oryx One inflight entertainment in order to encourage donations and increase awareness.

As per the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Qatar Airways was the largest international carrier between April to July 2020. Since the onset of the pandemic, the airline has flown over 175 million kilometres and carried 2.3 million passengers back to their respective home countries on over 35,000 flights. The airline also operated more than 400 charter flights across the world during the period.

Qatar Airways continues to observe advanced safety and hygiene measures onboard its aircraft, including the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for cabin crew and a complimentary protective kit and disposable face shields for passengers. Business Class passengers equipped with Qsuite, an award-winning business seat, can enjoy enhanced privacy including sliding partitions and a ‘Do Not Disturb (DND)’ indicator. Qsuite is available on flights to more than 30 destinations including London, Paris, and Frankfurt.

Hamad International Airport (HIA), Qatar Airways' main hub, has also implemented stringent hygienic procedures and social distancing measures. Passenger touchpoints are sanitized every 10-15 minutes while boarding gates and bus gate counters are cleaned after each flight. Hand sanitizers are available at immigration and security screening points throughout the airport.

HIA was recently ranked 'Third Best Airport in the World' at the SKYTRAX World Airport Awards 2020, as well as the ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ for the sixth consecutive year and ‘Best Staff Service in the Middle East’ for the fifth consecutive year.
