Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced two additional fatalities of COVID-19 in Maldives, bringing the total figure to 103.
As per the agency, a 74-year-old Maldivian male, who was brought to the IGMH ER was declared dead at 2200hrs on Monday.
Additionally, a 79-year-old Maldivian female who was admitted to Hulhumale Medical Facility passed away at 2314hrs on Monday.
With these developments, the total fatalities on Monday reached five.
The ongoing surge of COVID-19 positive cases has vastly increased the death rate, with 31 people passing away to date in May alone.
Maldives recorded its first COVID related death on April 29, 2020.
Authorities have tightened measure to curb the spread. This includes increased duration and extended curfew in addition to travel restrictions.
