Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) commenced an investigation on Monday, into Fenaka Corporation Limited (FENAKA) and Public Service Media (PSM) over several allegations of corruption.

Vice President of ACC Muawwiz Rasheed revealed that, in addition to the state utility corporation, two seperate teams are allocated to investigate accusations against the state media.

"Investigative teams are active with regards to both companies", said Muawwiz.

ACC revealed that in 2018, a total of 238 corruption cases against state companies were received, out of which 52 cases concerned FENAKA while 23 involved PSM.

However, the commission did not disclose further details about the cases.

State media PSM most recently was under fire for allegedly promoting former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's re-election campaigns, as opposed to any other candidate. PSM faced heavy public criticism for allotting far generous on-air time to Yameen.

Moreover, certain PSM board members are known to have actively campaigned for Yameen, in the weeks leading up to the 2018 Presidential Election.
