The administrative office of the Maldives Correctional Service will be relocated to the Dhivehi-Raajjeyge Adu building, which houses the national radio station.

According to an official of Public Service Media (PSM), which operates the building, the move will take place next month, with 15,000 square feet from Block A being leased for a period of five years.

The official said that only the administrative office of the Correctional Service will be relocated to the building, with a fence to be erected to separate the radio station from the section allocated to Correctional Service. Additionally, a separate door will be designated for employees to enter and leave the two facilities, he said.

The relocation was necessitated after it was decided that the Ghazi Building, one of the oldest office buildings of the state which currently houses the Correctional Service office, would be demolished by June, according to the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

The Elections Commission initially planned to use the Adu building as the main hub for the 2023 presidential election, but later decided to move it to Dharubaaruge.
