The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), on Monday, confirmed that the inspection of Public Service media (PSM) offices regarding a case under investigation, had resulted in a failure to unearth certain documents.

Speaking at the Parliamentary Committee on State-Owned Enterprises, ACC Vice President Muawwiz Rasheed accused stakeholder companies of purposefully disposing of incriminating documents, alleging PSM to be one such company.

According to Muawwiz, employees of some such companies asserted that the unrecovered documents were previously accounted for.

Stating that difficulties in securing documents impeded ACC's investigations, Muawwiz added that internal company policies also presented significant inconveniences.

According to Muawwiz, the corruption watchdog's investigative teams were, on certain occasions, informed that documents could not be released without special permission or without the presence of a certain department head.

However, the ACC Vice President stated that some of these issues were resolved through discussions with the Managing Directors or Board Members of respective companies.

Furthermore, Muawwiz stated that such actions are now considered attempts to obstruct ACC's investigations and would be penalized accordingly.
